Details & Inspection Notes
This new Mercury 115HP ECXLPT FourStroke is a counter-rotation-capable, Command Thrust-equipped outboard on a 25-inch extra-long shaft, intended for twin-engine installs or paired boats where one motor must spin opposite the other.
Counter rotation and Command Thrust together
On a twin-engine boat, running one standard-rotation and one counter-rotation prop keeps the hull tracking straight at speed and reduces the steering pull that two identical propellers can cause side by side; a single outboard install sees no benefit from the counter-rotation option listed here. Pairing that with the Command Thrust gearcase, which adds a larger propeller and stronger reverse bite, suits heavier twin-engine hulls like big pontoons or center consoles rather than a single light runabout.
Specifications and what is included
Displacing 2.1 liters across an 8-valve, single-overhead-cam inline four, this one draws fuel through multi-port EFI, carries remote mechanical steering and electric start, weighs 359 pounds, and tops out at 5000-6000 rpm. The box is rounded out with an owner's manual, a tool kit, and mounting hardware, all under Mercury Marine's 3-year warranty umbrella. A propeller is not included.
Is counter rotation standard or optional on this model? It is listed as available, suited mainly to twin-engine installs. Does it come with a propeller? No, propellers are sold separately. What if I only need one engine? A single installation works fine on this engine; the counter-rotation feature simply goes unused.
