Details & Inspection Notes
This used Mercury 115EXLPT Pro XS Command Thrust combines the performance-tuned Pro XS powerhead with the load-biased Command Thrust gearcase on a 25-inch shaft, aiming at boats that need both a higher rev range and extra low-speed bite.
Combining two upgrades on one engine
Pro XS tuning pushes the full-throttle range up to 5300-6300 rpm, while the Command Thrust housing on this particular engine is confirmed in its own gearcase field rather than only implied by the name, giving it a bigger propeller and stronger reverse bite than a plain Pro XS build would have. The gearcase ratio is 2.07:1, geared for that extra bite rather than outright top speed.
Steering and equipment
Steering runs remote through dual mechanical cables with hydraulic power assist, and it is compatible with an advanced tiller setup. This is an inline-four powerhead, single overhead cam, 8 valves, running multi-port electronic fuel injection, started electric turn-key with Smart Start, weighing 359 pounds dry. The finish is Phantom Black; propeller is not included.
Is the Command Thrust gearcase confirmed on this specific engine? Yes, its gearcase field names Command Thrust directly. Does it include a propeller? No. Is this the right choice over the plain Pro XS? If your boat is heavy or regularly loaded down, the extra bite here is usually worth the small amount of top-end rpm it costs compared with the non-Command-Thrust Pro XS.
