Details & Inspection Notes

This used Mercury 115EXLPT FourStroke is the base configuration of Mercury's 115 hp four-cylinder EFI outboard, on a 25-inch extra-long shaft, meant for a tall transom without the Command Thrust or Pro XS upgrades found elsewhere in this fleet.

Base FourStroke versus the upgraded variants

Without Command Thrust's bigger prop bite or Pro XS's higher rev range, this base EXLPT splits the difference: a 5000-5800 rpm full-throttle range and a dry weight of 363 pounds, which makes it a straightforward all-around choice for a boat that does not need either extreme. Gearcase ratio is 2.07:1, and CARB star rating is 3.

Steering and specifications

This one steers remotely through dual mechanical cables, hydraulic-assisted, with an electro-hydraulic upgrade sold separately for duals or an advanced tiller setup. Four cylinders under a single overhead cam, 8 valves total, draw fuel through multi-port EFI, started with Smart Start electric ignition and watched by SmartCraft Engine Guardian. It ships in Phantom Black and does not include a propeller.

Does this have the Command Thrust gearcase? No, this is the standard gearcase. What shaft length is it? 25 inches, for a tall transom. Who is this base version meant for? Anyone replacing a similar-sized four-stroke on a tall-transom boat who does not specifically need Command Thrust's extra low-speed bite or Pro XS's wider rev range, just a dependable, middle-of-the-road 115.
