Details & Inspection Notes
This used Mercury 115ELPT Pro XS is the performance-tuned version of the 115 hp four-stroke, on a 20-inch shaft, built to spin a higher full-throttle rpm range than the standard versions in this lineup.
What Pro XS trades for performance
Pro XS models are set up for a wider, higher rev range than Mercury's standard FourStroke tuning, which typically means quicker acceleration and a higher top speed on a lighter, performance-oriented hull such as a bass boat, rather than the load-carrying bias of a Command Thrust gearcase. Full throttle here reaches 5300-6300 rpm, a noticeably wider band than the base EXLPT and ELPT FourStroke models offer.
Steering and equipment to confirm
Steering options include Big Tiller compatibility alongside dual-cable mechanical control and hydraulic power steering; confirm which control setup your boat already has before ordering. Power routes through an 8-valve inline four on a single overhead cam, fed by multi-port EFI, started electric turn-key with Smart Start. The gearcase ratio is 2.07:1, dry weight runs 359 pounds, and the gearcase itself reads standard rather than Command Thrust. Color is Phantom Black, and you will need to source your own propeller.
Does Pro XS run at a higher rpm than the standard model? Yes, full throttle here reaches 5300-6300 rpm. Is a propeller included? No. Is Pro XS a good fit for a pontoon? It can be, but a load-hauling Command Thrust gearcase is usually the better match for a heavy, slow-cruising hull than this performance tune.
