Details & Inspection Notes
This used Mercury 115ECXLPT Command Thrust FourStroke is a 25-inch-shaft, counter-rotation-capable, inline four-cylinder EFI outboard, suited to a twin-engine or paired-boat setup where one motor needs to turn opposite the other.
What the EC in the model code means
Counter rotation on a twin install lets two matched propellers spin opposite directions, which helps the boat track straight and cuts the steering pull a pair of same-rotation engines can produce side by side; a single-engine boat gets no benefit from it. Full-throttle rpm here runs 5000-5800, with a 2.07:1 gearcase ratio and a dry weight of 363 pounds.
Gearcase and steering to confirm
This engine's own gearcase field reads standard rather than the Command Thrust housing the model name suggests, so confirm the exact gearcase with us before ordering if that distinction matters for your propeller choice. Control is remote via dual mechanical cables, with hydraulic power steering standard and an electro-hydraulic option for dual installs or an advanced tiller. It carries Smart Start electric starting and SmartCraft Engine Guardian monitoring; propeller is not included, and the finish is Phantom Black.
Is this for a single-engine or twin installation? It is counter-rotation capable, which is most useful on twins. Does it include a propeller? No, propellers are sold separately. Can a single boat run just this one engine? Yes, counter rotation is only a benefit on a twin install; a single motor works the same either way.
