Details & Inspection Notes
This is a used JDM Toyota 3SGTE engine, specifically a Gen-3 unit pulled from a Toyota Caldina GT-Four ST246W, the turbocharged 2.0L inline-4 that also powered the Celica GT-Four and MR2 Turbo, imported with roughly 45,739 miles on it.
What's included
This unit pairs the complete head and block with its own turbocharger, ECU and manual transmission. Rounding things out are the fuel rails, the alternator and power steering pump, the sensors and wiring harness, the oil pan, and the intake and exhaust manifolds, intercooler and other ancillaries that came with this Gen-3 Caldina package.
What makes this engine distinct
Toyota's bore and stroke for the 3SGTE is 86 mm by 86 mm, with a compression ratio between 8.5 and 9.0 depending on generation, a stock output of up to 260 HP and up to 324 Nm of torque. Being a Gen-3 unit, it's a newer revision than the engines originally fitted to the Celica GT-Four ST205, which is why it's commonly used to replace an earlier-generation 3SGTE as well as to power its original Caldina platform.
Who it suits
It suits a swap into a Celica GT-Four, MR2 Turbo, Corona, Carina or select RAV4 models, or a direct replacement in another Caldina GT-Four, for a builder who wants a proven turbocharged four-cylinder with a long aftermarket tuning history.
Common questions
Is this an early or late-generation 3SGTE? Gen-3, a newer revision than the engines found in the ST205 Celica GT-Four.
Does it include the ECU and transmission? Yes, both the ECU and the manual transmission from the Caldina package are included.
