This JDM engine is the B-series' hand-assembled, 1.6L DOHC VTEC B16B, sourced from a Civic Type R EK9 built between 1996 and 2000, paired here with the close-ratio S4C 5-speed transmission and its factory limited-slip differential, plus the PCT Type R ECU.

What's included

Riding along with the B16B are the S4C 5-speed LSD gearbox and the PCT ECU, the intake and exhaust manifolds, and the distributor, alternator, throttle body and sensors pictured with the unit. A fuller accessory set, including the AC compressor, power steering pump, starter and exhaust manifold, is bundled in as well.

What makes this engine distinct

Honda rates the B16B at 185 HP at 8,200 RPM, assembled by the factory's racing engineers with high compression and an aggressive VTEC crossover point, a step above a standard B16A in both output and build quality. The S4C transmission's factory LSD is also specific to this Type R package rather than a bolt-on addition.
