Details & Inspection Notes
This Hooker transmission crossmember, part 71222008HKR, is built for LS-engine swaps into a 1964-67 GM A-Body and is designed around Hooker's own 71221008HKR or 71221009HKR engine brackets to optimize the U-joint working angle for the swap.
What it works with
The crossmember is also sized to clear Hooker headers and exhaust for this application, and its modular design directly fits T56/T56 Magnum and 4L80/4L85 transmissions; separate add-on adapters cover 4L60-4L70 (part 12657HKR) or TH400 and 2004R (part 12650HKR) if you are running one of those instead. It is built from high-strength, low-alloy steel and finished in black powder coat for corrosion resistance.
What to check before ordering
This crossmember is made for non-boxed-frame A-body cars; boxed-frame body styles such as the El Camino and convertible models fall outside this fitment, so confirm your frame type before buying. Because it is designed as part of a complete Hooker swap system, pairing it with Hooker's matching engine brackets and headers delivers the ground clearance and driveline angles it was engineered around.
Will this fit my El Camino? No, El Camino and convertible A-bodies use a boxed frame, which this crossmember is not designed for.
Does this work with a manual transmission? Yes, its modular design directly fits the T56/T56 Magnum in addition to the 4L80/4L85 automatics.
