Details & Inspection Notes
FTI's Pro Powerglide Level 4, part number PPG4, sits in the middle of this group of listings, a new transmission rated for up to 1,100 horsepower on an aftermarket aluminum case.
What is inside
A 300M input shaft and hardened 4340 output shaft support a billet steel clutch hub and a 1.80 first gear ratio, carrying an SFI 4.1/ 30.1 safety rating. Launch control runs through a trans-brake built into its full manual valve body, and the deep aluminum pan carries an 11.250-inch tailshaft. That pan has a natural finish, matching the natural-finished aftermarket case, and the output rides on a slip-on yoke. FTI builds the 300M input shaft in the TH350/400 style, a reference point familiar to shops already set up to service that family of Powerglide-based transmissions.
What is not included
This is a new unit sold individually rather than part of a kit; a torque converter, transmission fluid, and dipstick stay outside the box, and it is not lockup compatible, in keeping with its trans-brake-equipped design for competition use.
Q: How does the Pro Powerglide line differ from the Bracket Series? Within this group of listings, the Pro Powerglide sits above FTI's lower-rated Bracket Series Powerglide and below its highest-rated one, judged by their stated horsepower figures.
Q: Does it include a hardened output shaft? Yes, a hardened 4340 output shaft comes with this transmission.
Q: What bellhousing and shift pattern does it use? A Chevy bellhousing bolt pattern pairs with a valve body running the standard forward shift sequence here as well.
