Details & Inspection Notes
A jet pump stands in for a propeller on this used Evinrude 105 HP, a V6, 60-degree E-TEC direct-injection outboard built for rivers and flats a conventional lower unit can't reach. Bore runs 3.62 in, stroke 2.60 in, for a displacement of 158.2 cubic inches, with the throttle spinning up through 5400-6000 rpm on a 1:1 primary gear.
What the jet setup changes
With no blade hanging below the hull, this motor is suited to water a propeller-driven outboard would ground out in: sandbars, gravel runs, skinny creeks. A two-position lift gate switches between forward and reverse without extra moving parts, while the direct-injection engine keeps torque strong and the exhaust note muted even sitting shallower in the water than a standard outboard does.
Fitting it
Make sure your hull and mount are built around a jet lower unit rather than a gearcase-and-prop setup; swapping between the two styles generally isn't a drop-in change. The shaft measures 20 inches, so line that up with your transom height, and plan your bracket or trailer around its 428-pound weight.
Electrical and controls
Steering is remote, the starter is electric, and mechanical controls pair with FasTrak power trim and tilt. The alternator puts out 133 amps total with 50 amps reserved net.
Can a regular prop be fitted instead? No, this engine is built around its jet pump, not a propeller and gearcase.
What's it meant for? Shallow rivers, sandbars, and other skinny water a prop-driven outboard would struggle in.
