The Edelbrock/Musi 555 is a 9.1-liter, 555-cubic-inch big block rated at 723 horsepower and 652 lb-ft of torque, built around Edelbrock E-CNC aluminum cylinder heads and a 90mm front-mount throttle body feeding a multi-port EFI system. Compression runs 10.0:1 on a forged-steel 4.250-inch crankshaft and forged pistons.
What the EFI system includes
This induction package comes with fuel injectors, fuel rails, a fuel pump, the throttle body, an electronic control unit, and a 7-inch Android tablet preloaded with Edelbrock's E-Tuner app, which connects over Bluetooth to adjust calibration using the ECU's self-learning capability. The camshaft delivers .594 inch of lift on both intake and exhaust, with 242 and 240 degrees of duration respectively.
What ships and what you add
A distributor, oil pan, timing cover, and harmonic balancer all ship installed, and Edelbrock backs this engine with a 2-year, unlimited-mileage warranty. Left for the buyer to source are the water pump, the flexplate and flywheel, spark plugs, and an air cleaner. For the opening 500 miles, Edelbrock calls for a zinc-rich break-in oil, after which switching to a high-performance synthetic is the recommendation, along with premium fuel given the compression and output.
