Details & Inspection Notes
This race-ready "602 crate" wears GM's Vortec iron cylinder heads over a hypereutectic-piston short block, sealed and approved for IMCA competition, and it is tuned around 92-octane fuel. The horsepower curve tops out at 350 by 5,000 rpm, while torque reaches 390 lb-ft a bit earlier, around 3,800 rpm.
Bore, compression, and valve numbers
Bore and stroke measure 4.00 by 3.48 inches, with compression set at 9.1:1. Intake valves measure 1.94 inches and exhaust valves 1.50 inches, run through stamped-steel rocker arms at a 1.5:1 ratio. The camshaft itself is cut for .435 inch of intake lift and .460 inch on the exhaust side, spread across 212 degrees of intake duration and 222 on the exhaust at a 112.5-degree lobe separation.
What is delivered and what to expect
This engine arrives as a fully assembled long block, dressed with Chevy Bowtie-logo steel valve covers and breathers, a high-rise aluminum intake manifold, an HEI distributor, an 8-inch harmonic balancer, oil pump and oil pan, front timing cover, and IMCA sealing bolts, plus a dyno sheet specific to your engine. Lifter preload and timing are set before it ships, so it is ready to race out of the crate at a shipped weight of 434 lbs.
Q: What rpm is this engine's power rated at? 350 hp arrives at 5,000 rpm, with peak torque of 390 lb-ft at 3,800 rpm.
