Details & Inspection Notes
This TREMEC TKX driveline kit bundles a genuine TKX 5-speed manual transmission with a heavy-duty steel bellhousing, an 11-inch performance clutch kit, a billet steel flywheel, and a hydraulic throwout bearing, aimed at converting Small Block or Big Block Chevrolet muscle cars, hot rods, and pro-touring builds to a modern manual gearbox.
What the transmission offers
The compact aluminum case is built for tight transmission-tunnel clearance, with a 1.125-inch, 26-spline input shaft and a 1.375-inch, 31-spline output shaft, rated to 600 lb-ft of torque. Gearing runs 2.87:1 first, 1.89:1 second, 1.28:1 third, 1.00:1 fourth, and a 0.68:1 overdrive fifth for lower highway RPM, with a 2.56:1 reverse; shifting is smooth up to 7,500 RPM and the transmission supports engine speeds to 8,000 RPM.
What arrives in the kit
Along with the TKX transmission, the kit includes a steel Chevrolet bellhousing, the billet flywheel, an 11-inch clutch disc and pressure plate, a hydraulic throwout bearing, a short-throw billet aluminum shifter, a reverse light switch, and the mounting hardware; a driveshaft yoke is not included. It is built for most 1955-1985 Small Block and Big Block Chevrolet engines once the correct rear-main-seal configuration is confirmed.
The kit's coverage runs one year against defects in materials and workmanship for normal use with a correct installation, and it still leaves items such as a transmission crossmember, clutch master cylinder, hydraulic lines, and a pedal assembly for automatic-to-manual conversions for the installer to add.
