Details & Inspection Notes
BluePrint's Blackout Reaper is the biggest engine in this lineup, a 632-cubic-inch Chevy big-block making 815 horsepower and 775 pound-feet on 11.0:1 compression, paired with a 4L80E automatic transmission built with lockup capability.
Big-block architecture
A tall-deck block, roughly 0.400 inch taller and wider than a stock big-block casting, carries a forged crankshaft with a 4.750-inch stroke and forged H-beam 6.635-inch connecting rods under forged pistons, balanced internally. The PS8012 aluminum heads use a 0.300-inch raised exhaust port over the factory design, with 2.300-inch intake and 1.880-inch exhaust valves, over a hydraulic roller camshaft. BluePrint says builders need to check clearance for the exhaust, the shift linkage, and the steering components before ordering one of these for a specific chassis.
Fuel system and transmission
A complete EFI system rated at 1,250 cfm runs through an Aeromotive A1000 fuel pump and a single-plane aluminum intake. The 4L80E transmission comes with its own electronic controller, a torque converter stalling between 3,800 and 4,200 rpm, a non-weighted flexplate, and a starter, with gear ratios running from 2.482:1 in first down to a 0.750:1 overdrive. A black-finish front accessory drive carries the alternator, the compressor, the power-steering pump, and the water pump together. This combo fits Chevrolet big-block applications from 1991 through 2000; not designed for EGR compatibility.
