Details & Inspection Notes
Step up from the cast-crank Short Block Plus to this forged version: 432 horsepower and 450 pound-feet on a lower 9.5:1 compression, built around a forged crankshaft, forged pistons, and forged connecting rods in place of the cast parts used in BluePrint's other short-block listing.
Forged rotating assembly
The forged crankshaft and forged pistons, carrying an 18cc dish, work alongside forged connecting rods, their bolts rated to 150,000 psi. Moly piston rings come from Hastings, and a Melling high-volume oil pump supplies a hydraulic roller camshaft driven through a heavy-duty, double-roller timing set, a step up from the single-roller setup BluePrint uses on its cast-crank short block. The bottom end sits in a four-bolt-main block, machined for a passenger-side dipstick, with the main bearing bore align-honed for a tighter fit, and brass freeze plugs fitted at the rear.
Still to add
No cylinder heads, intake, carburetor, or distributor come with this short block; it's built for a buyer supplying their own top end and induction system. It's dyno tested, with results shipped alongside the engine. This short block doesn't include coverage either, so confirm terms with us if that matters before you order, and it's sold new, not reconditioned.
Why the lower 9.5:1 compression? It pairs with the forged pistons' deeper dish shape; confirm your own cylinder head chamber volume before you plan a final static compression number for your build.
