Details & Inspection Notes

The 1300 Gen II Short is a clutchless 2-speed racing transmission built for Late Model, Modified, and Stock Car circle-track competition, using a low-drag layout that fully disengages its first and reverse gear assemblies once the car settles into direct-drive high gear, cutting internal drag and wear at speed rather than only at the shift point.

What makes the Short case different

Measuring 19 inches overall, this is Bert's compact Gen II housing, listed at roughly 36 to 37 pounds, which packages far more easily into a tight chassis than a longer unit would. An internal hydraulic clutch handles engagement inside the aluminum case, with 10 splines on the input shaft, a slip-yoke output, a 2.40:1 low gear, a 1:1 high gear once in direct drive, plus neutral and reverse.

What still needs sourcing

Bellhousing, shifter, coupler, yoke, and fluid are all left for the builder to add separately; this package covers the transmission, its internal clutch hardware, the reverse lockout parts, mounting hardware, and the manufacturer's documentation. Matching it to the right bellhousing and coupler for your engine is on you.

Coverage on the 1300 Gen II runs one year for defects in materials and workmanship, so long as it sees normal racing use and a correct install, and it is built for dirt or asphalt circle-track competition rather than the street.
