Details & Inspection Notes

The 2-piece rear main seal version of this short-case Gen II kit swaps in a seal-specific drive flange and a set of ARP crankshaft bolts, while the gearbox itself carries the same 600 lb-ft rating and aluminum construction as Bert's other Gen II packages. High gear locks out the first and reverse gear sets completely, trimming rotating mass for oval and dirt competition.

Class fit

IMCA and Wissota Modified rules accept this gearbox, as do Sport Mod, Hobby Stock, and dirt modified stock car classes, all of which favor the lighter rotating assembly this short case provides over a traditionally shifted gearbox. The included steel bellhousing bolts to either a small block Chevy or small block Ford pattern.

What's packaged with it

Along with the bellhousing, bolt kit, and crankshaft bolts, you'll get performance transmission fluid, a braided brake line with its AN fitting, and a bench stand for storage or service work. A 27-spline slip yoke, a matching driveshaft, and shift linkage aren't included, so budget for those as separate purchases.

Common questions

Is this street-legal? No, it's built for competition only.

Does it include hardware specific to the 2-piece seal? Yes, the drive flange and ARP crankshaft bolts are both sized for that seal type.

Defects in materials and workmanship are covered by a 1-year limited warranty, assuming normal racing use.
