Details & Inspection Notes

A new right front door shell for a 1970-72 Chevelle or Malibu 2-door, this Sherman reproduction panel is built to bolt and weld in against the factory door opening without major reshaping.

Why choose a full shell

Doors on these cars often rust from the inside out, starting at the lower skin and the bottom edge where moisture collects; once that damage spreads past the lower few inches, a full shell typically means less labor than chasing patches around the hinges, latch and window track.

What to check before buying

This part is the right (passenger) side only, so a left-side project needs the matching front left shell ordered on its own. Sherman stamps this shell using the same production methods it supplies to OEM manufacturers, though like any door shell, plan on trial-fitting the hinge and latch areas, trimming as needed, and welding it into the opening.

Does this include the door skin only, or the full door? It is a complete door shell, not just an outer skin.

What side and body style does it fit? The front right side of a 1970-72 Chevelle or Malibu 2-door.

Performance Installation & Verification Checklist

  • Disconnect vehicle battery ground terminal before installing any electrical, sensor, or powertrain hardware.
  • Inspect all vacuum lines, fuel lines, and wiring harness connectors for secure, leak-free engagement.
  • Calibrate electronic sensors, boost control solenoids, and ECU maps according to manufacturer instructions.
  • Perform initial datalogging check under light load before subjecting vehicle to wide-open throttle.
