602/604 Crate Engine Complete Accessory Drive Kit

Built for GM's 602 and 604 crate engines, this accessory drive kit bundles a short, heavy-duty aluminum water pump, a matched 1:1 pulley set, and a power steering pump into one package sized for oval track racing use. The water pump uses 3/4" ultra duty bearings, a precision impeller, and casting designed for equal flow to both cylinder banks, and weighs 7-3/4 lbs.

What's in the kit

For the pulley side, you get a double groove crank pulley matched to a double groove water pump pulley, both cast aluminum, plus a set of heavy-duty belts measuring 30-5/8" x 3/8" that spin the pump at the same 1:1 speed as the crank. An aluminum lower pulley screw kit, a .090" thick aluminum lower pulley spacer, and a water pump shim kit rounding out the belt-alignment hardware, with the shim kit made up of a pair of 1/16" spacers plus a single 1/8" spacer. The kit also adds a steel power steering pump with an aluminum V-belt pulley and a black anodized mounting bracket sized for short water pumps.

What to check before buying

This kit fits a Small Block Chevy V8 built between '55 and '68 that takes the short-style water pump, whether that pump uses a 5/8" or a 3/4" shaft. The power steering pump uses an AN6 pressure fitting, and you'll need to supply your own AN8 or AN10 supply fitting along with a separate V-belt for the power steering pump, since neither ships in the box. On a 604 engine specifically, one timing cover bolt needs to be ground shorter so it clears the water pump.
