Details & Inspection Notes
Picture the convenience of a key-turn start, but at the tiller instead of a console: that's the 2019 Yamaha F25LWHC, a 20-inch-shaft, 25 hp outboard with electric starting backed by a manual pull cord, weighing 137 pounds.
Tiller, not console
Everything, including the ignition switch, lives at the back of the boat on the tiller handle itself. That suits smaller boats where a console-mounted steering wheel and control cables were never installed, or where the owner simply prefers having a hand on the throttle at the motor.
Setup to confirm
Check that your transom matches a 20-inch shaft and that your hull is set up for tiller operation rather than cable-steered console controls. A battery is needed to use the electric starter, though the pull cord will start the engine without one.
Engine
Two-cylinder, 432cc four-stroke, electronically fuel injected.
Tiller upkeep
Keep the steering-friction adjuster on the tiller lubricated and snug; a loose or dry friction knob is a common reason a tiller motor wanders at speed even when everything else about the rig is running fine.
Common questions
Is the ignition switch at the tiller? Yes, everything, including starting and shifting, is controlled right from the handle, with no separate console to wire up.
Is it new? Yes, and this unit carries Yamaha's standard new-motor coverage from day one.
