Details & Inspection Notes

The 2019 Yamaha F25LWC gives you two ways to start the engine on one 20-inch-shaft outboard: turn the key for the electric starter, or reach for the pull cord if the battery is flat. Remote mechanical steering handles control from the console, and the combination lands at 130 pounds.

Why dual starting matters

A backup pull cord means a dead or disconnected battery doesn't strand you at the dock; you can still get the engine running and motor back in. That peace of mind is the main reason to pick this variant over an electric-only sibling in the same family.

Setting it up

Your helm needs remote mechanical steering hardware already in place at the transom, since there is no tiller handle here, and the hull should take a 20-inch shaft before you order. A battery is optional in the sense that the engine will still start without one.

Engine

432cc across two cylinders, electronic fuel injection.

Keeping the backup ready

Because the pull cord only gets used occasionally on an electric-start boat, exercise it every few outings so the starter rope and recoil spring don't seize up from disuse right when you actually need them.

Common questions

What if the battery is dead? Pull-start the engine manually; the electric system is a convenience, not a requirement.

Is a tiller handle included? No. This is sold new, with Yamaha's factory warranty terms attached.
