Details & Inspection Notes

Yamaha built the 2019 F25LMHC as a tiller-handled 25 hp outboard with pull-cord starting only, on a 20-inch shaft, which keeps it at 130 pounds, among the lightest 20-inch-shaft options in this engine family. Steering, shifting and throttle all live on the handle itself rather than at a console.

Why go tiller and manual

Dropping the starter motor and battery is what keeps weight down here, which matters on smaller hulls rated for less engine weight, and some owners simply prefer not managing a battery on a boat stored outdoors through winter. The tradeoff is pull-starting the engine by hand every time out.

Fitment

Your boat needs to be rigged for tiller control, not console steering, and the transom should match a 20-inch shaft. Since there's no electrical system to wire, setup is largely mechanical: mounting bolts and a fuel line.

Engine

Two cylinders, 432cc, electronic fuel injection.

Off-season care

Because starting is manual only, running the carburetion dry or adding fuel stabilizer before winter layup matters more here than on a motor you might simply crank over in spring to clear old fuel; a gummed-up manual starter is harder to diagnose than a dead battery.

Common questions

Can I add electric start later? No, this model is built around manual starting only, and swapping in a starter motor isn't a supported conversion.

Is it sold new? Yes, it is unused stock straight from Yamaha, with the usual factory paperwork included.
