2019 Mercury 15 HP EFI 15ELH Outboard Motor

Mercury gave the 2019 15ELH EFI an ambidextrous tiller handle, letting the throttle grip work comfortably from either side rather than favoring one hand, something it calls a first for a portable outboard. At 114 lb, with a 20-inch shaft and electronic fuel injection, it is the long-shaft counterpart to the 15EH EFI in this range, aimed at boats that ride a little taller in the water.

Engine details

Displacement comes in at 333cc, equal to 20.3 cubic inches, through a 61 by 57 mm bore and stroke. Fuel injection in place of a carburetor should mean steadier starts and idle than the carbureted long-shaft models Mercury also sells, and full throttle reaches 5000 to 6000 RPM. Electric start handles everyday starting duty on this model.

Fit and coverage

A 2.15:1 gearcase and a 138-watt alternator round out the drivetrain and electrical side on this unit. Mercury Marine's warranty here runs five years, matching the term on its EFI short-shaft sibling, and the external fuel tank system carries over from the rest of this EFI range.
