Details & Inspection Notes
The F25LWTC runs a different, larger block than Yamaha's other F25 portables: a 498cc two-cylinder SOHC design with a built-in counterbalancer, sharing pistons, rods and valves with the maker's F60. On a 20-inch shaft it weighs 76kg (168 lbs) dry and starts electrically or by hand.
Why this configuration
ES/MS on the code means electric or manual starting is available; PT means power trim and tilt, or a manual setup with a two-position shallow drive. Fuel delivery here runs a single carburetor with an accelerator pump rather than EFI, which sets it apart from the smaller-block F25 line and makes it a different parts family entirely.
Block and bore
Bore and stroke measure 65 by 75mm, compression sits at 9.4:1, and the gear ratio works out to 2.08:1. Induction uses an SOHC, four-valve layout, alternator output is 13 amps, and oil capacity holds 1.7 liters. Yamaha specifies unleaded gasoline at a minimum of 87 octane and its own Yamalube 4-M oil in 10W-30 or 20W-40 grade. A narrow-waisted driveshaft, thicker at each end than through the middle, is built to flex briefly if the propeller strikes something hard, limiting shock to the drivetrain.
Confirm your exact control-cable and shift-lever fittings with us before ordering, since this ES/MS PT build pairs with specific rigging hardware.
