Details & Inspection Notes
At the top of Yamaha's 3.3-liter V6 offshore line, this XCA-trim engine is rated 250 hp, carried on a 25-inch shaft and tipping the scale at 608 lbs dry, built for boats that need steady torque at a cruise rather than short bursts of speed.
Power and feed
Six independent fuel injectors deliver precision multi-point injection with variable camshaft timing on top, pulling from a 3352cc block with 9.9:1 compression. Starting is electric with power trim and tilt, and the gearset reduces at 2.00:1. Alternator output is rated 44 amps.
Buyer notes
Expect this engine to arrive as a bare powerhead rather than a turnkey package; propeller, control box, and cables are typically separate line items, so price those in before comparing listings on engine cost alone. A single-belt drive system with an automatic tensioner and sacrificial anodes point toward a design meant for long seasons in salt water rather than occasional freshwater outings, and routine anode checks will stretch the life of the lower unit considerably over several seasons. Many buyers pair this displacement with a stainless prop rather than the standard aluminum unit for a noticeable bump in top-end response.
Both pleasure and government use get three years of coverage here, narrowing to one year once the motor goes commercial. Confirm your rigging and propeller with us before ordering.
