Details & Inspection Notes
This cable-and-lever 2017 outboard shares its 4.2-liter V6 block with the digital version above, rated the same 225 hp, but draws only 50 amps from its alternator and comes in at 551 lbs dry on its 25-inch shaft, a touch lighter thanks to the simpler control hardware.
Why this configuration
This trim matches boats already set up with cables and a binnacle; it's generally the cheaper and lighter route if your console was never wired for digital controls in the first place. The compression ratio is 10.3:1, trim moves across a -3 to +16 degree band, and the gearset reduces at 1.75:1.
Durability notes
The oil fill on this block is 6.3 liters once a filter goes in, 6.0 liters without one, fed through DOHC injection with variable camshaft timing and electric starting. A single-belt drive system, sacrificial anodes, and a water-cooled rectifier/regulator all support long-term saltwater reliability on a hard-used offshore boat, and the C.A.R.B. paperwork for this trim is already on file for sale into restricted states.
Pleasure and government use are each covered three years on this model; commercial use gets one. This unit ships new; confirm your cable and lever rigging before ordering, and let us know if you need help sourcing a matching propeller for this motor.
