Details & Inspection Notes
The NSF6C2 takes the same 6 HP, single-cylinder Nissan engine and puts it on a longer, 20-inch shaft, still fired up by hand with a pull cord and steered with a tiller rather than remote controls.
Who this fits
A taller transom, or duty as auxiliary power on a sailboat, calls for this longer shaft so the propeller sits at the right depth rather than too close to the surface. Under the cowling sits the familiar carbureted single cylinder, OHV valves, and a thermostat-controlled cooling loop, rated for use in salt water, with a 2.15-to-1 gearbox shifted at a lever mounted at the front of the motor, driving a standard aluminum propeller.
Fuel and what's packed in
An external tank holding 3.1 gallons feeds the engine through a quick-connect line. There's no built-in alternator on this pull-start model, so charging hardware stays a separate purchase if you want it. The crate also holds a printed manual and a basic tool kit, and the motor carries Nissan's 5-year warranty. For anyone torn between this and the short-shaft version in the same family, the deciding factor is almost always transom height rather than how the boat is used.
Common questions
Will the longer shaft work on a smaller boat? Measure your transom first; running a shaft that's too long drags the propeller deeper than a shallow-draft hull wants.
Is this rated for use in salt water? Yes.
