Swap the pull cord for a key or button and you have the NSF15CEF1, the electric-start sibling of Nissan's 2015 15 Hp outboard. Everything else carries over from the Tohatsu-built design: two cylinders, four-stroke operation, and the same short-shaft, tiller-steered layout.
Electric start changes the alternator too
Adding a starter motor means this version carries a 12-volt, 145-watt alternator as standard equipment rather than the optional, bolt-on unit offered on the pull-start model. Trim and tilt stay manual here, and steering remains tiller-operated rather than remote.
Running specifications
This engine turns 5,000 to 6,000 RPM wide open, geared 2.15:1 with forward-neutral-reverse selected at the front-mounted lever. A 3.1-gallon external tank, hooked up with a quick-connect fitting, feeds the carburetor, and the cooling system is water-cooled, thermostatically controlled, and rated for saltwater use. This one, too, calls for SAE 10W-30 or 10W-40 oil in its wet-sump design.
What ships with it? An owner's manual, a tool kit, the 3.1-gallon tank and its fuel line, and a 3-blade aluminum propeller.
What's the warranty? A 5-year warranty from Nissan.
Is the electric starter a factory part or an add-on? It is built into this particular version from the factory, not a separate kit fitted on afterward.
