Nissan's marine business sourced its outboards from Tohatsu, and this 2015 15 Hp model, NSF15C1, is a case in point: a Tohatsu-built, two-cylinder four-stroke sold under Nissan badging, identical to its Tohatsu counterpart in features, specifications, and warranty term. Since Nissan's own marine brand has since been discontinued, this is new-old-stock at new pricing rather than a current model.
What to check before buying
The shaft measures 15 inches, Nissan's short option for this horsepower; confirm that suits your transom before ordering. Steering is by tiller, starting is by manual pull cord, and trim and tilt are hand-adjusted rather than powered.
Specifications worth knowing
Top speed on the tachometer runs 5,000 to 6,000 RPM, driven through a 2.15:1 geared lower unit with forward, neutral, and reverse selected at a lever on the front of the engine. The two-cylinder block uses SOHC valve gear, two valves per cylinder, and digital CD ignition, feeding from a 3.1-gallon external tank by carburetor. Lubrication runs wet-sump, on SAE 10W-30 or 10W-40 oil, and an alternator can be added as an optional, separately installed part.
What's included with the engine? A 3.1-gallon fuel tank with its quick-connect line, a 3-blade aluminum propeller, an owner's manual, and a tool kit.
