Travel 1103 CL

The Torqeedo Travel 1103 CL is a direct-drive electric outboard sized as a 3 hp equivalent, built as a tender or kicker motor, with a long 30-inch aluminum shaft, tiller steering, and electric start, running quietly enough to measure 33 decibels in operation. Its 915 Wh lithium battery ships included rather than sold apart from the motor.

Why direct drive and this shaft

A direct-drive design with no gearbox is part of why Torqeedo can keep this motor's noise down to 33 decibels, and the 30-inch aluminum shaft is the long option in the Travel 1103 pair, built with an upgraded transom mount and roughly 10 percent more power than the previous Travel generation.

Weight and handling

Total weight comes to 39 lbs with the battery fitted, the motor itself accounting for 26 lbs and the battery for the other 13 lbs, a split that lets each piece be carried on its own trip to the boat.

Range and what is included

Expect up to 74 km, or roughly 46 miles, of range from the included battery, which integrates GPS and a USB connection; status shows on a display built right into the tiller itself. Rounding out the package are a charger, a propeller, and an emergency magnetic kill switch for cutting power fast.
