Details & Inspection Notes

The Tohatsu 9.9HP MFS9.9EEFUL keeps the 25-inch ultra-long shaft but skips power tilt, running manual trim and tilt with electric start, at about 110 lbs. It's lighter than its power-tilt sibling precisely because it leaves out that tilt hardware while keeping the same long reach.

Long shaft without power tilt

If your boat needs the extra shaft reach but you don't need push-button tilt, this trims weight and one more system to maintain compared with a power-tilt configuration. This is the 333cc EFI engine, running 5400 to 6100 rpm at full throttle, with electric start supported by a built-in charging system for basic electronics on board.

Equipment and fit

Measure your own transom before ordering, since this is the long-shaft end of this engine's range and isn't something you can trim down after the fact; too long and the propeller runs deep, too short and it cavitates near the surface. Factory-included parts: propeller, 3.1-gallon tank and fuel line, a tool kit and parts, an owner's manual, a lanyard-style kill switch, and the charging system that backs up electric start. Warranty coverage runs 5 years on this configuration, same term as the rest of the family regardless of shaft length or trim style.

Does this have power tilt? No, trim and tilt are manual on this version.

What starts it? Electric start.
