Details & Inspection Notes
Sailboats whose motor bracket sits further from the water than a typical small-craft transom are the reason the MFS6DWSPROUL exists: an ultra-long, 25-inch shaft version of Tohatsu's 6 hp Sail Pro, keeping the single-cylinder, 123cc four-stroke, tiller steering and manual start at a weight of 59 lbs, while the full-throttle ceiling stays at 5000 to 6000 rpm, the same as the rest of the Sail Pro range.
Why go ultra-long instead of long
Tohatsu builds the Sail Pro with a choice of shaft lengths; this is the 25-inch version, five inches deeper than the other Sail Pro option, meant for mounts that hold the motor further from the waterline.
What the Sail Pro changes on this engine
A high-thrust sail drive propeller is tuned for the slower speeds typical of auxiliary power under sail, and a 12V, 60W, 5A charging system with its own cable keeps a battery topped up or runs small electrical devices while under way. The owner's manual covers the specific storage and transport steps for this shaft length.
This package pairs the high-thrust propeller with the fuel side of things — a tank and its line — plus the service kit, lanyard and owner's manual that round out the rest of the Sail Pro line.
How do I know which shaft length my sailboat needs? It comes down to how far the mount holds the motor from the water; confirm that measurement before choosing between the two Sail Pro lengths. Warranty is 5 years.
