Details & Inspection Notes

A sail drive propeller built for thrust rather than top speed sets the Sail Pro apart from the rest of Tohatsu's 6 hp line. Model MFS6DWSPROL is aimed at auxiliary sailboat power, dinghies and tenders, pairing a single-cylinder, 123cc four-stroke with a 20-inch shaft, tiller steering and manual start. Weight is 57 lbs, and full throttle runs 5000 to 6000 rpm.

What makes it a Sail Pro

Instead of the standard aluminum propeller used elsewhere in the 6 hp line, this version carries a high-thrust design matched to the slower cruising speeds typical of auxiliary sailboat power. A 12V, 60W, 5A charging system, complete with its own cable, is also built in, letting the engine top off a battery or run small electrical loads while underway.

Handling and storage

Carrying handles front and back on this generation's cowl make lifting the motor between stowage and the transom easier, and storage is no longer limited to one angle: the motor tips into 3 separate positions without oil working toward the cylinder. Check the owner's manual for the storage and transport steps specific to this model.

Can the Sail Pro propeller be swapped onto a standard 6 hp motor? Confirm fitment with us before trying; the high-thrust design is matched specifically to this model's gear case.

In the box: the high-thrust propeller, a charging cable, a service tool kit, a stop-switch lanyard, the owner's manual, and an external 3.1-gallon tank feeding through its own line, backed by a 5 year warranty.
