This used Tohatsu MFS50AWETS keeps the 15-inch-shaft, 50-hp, three-cylinder, 866cc four-stroke rigged exactly as it left the factory, electric start and tiller-or-remote steering included. Tohatsu's figures remain 214 lbs bare and 225 with the tiller handle fitted.

A 15-inch shaft paired with 50 hp and either tiller or remote steering gives flexibility in how the boat gets rigged, provided your transom height matches the shorter shaft rather than the longer option Tohatsu also builds for this engine. The lower-ratio gear case behind this engine's low-end torque is unchanged on this used unit, and the three-cylinder layout still runs smoother than a comparable twin at this output.

Condition and running range

Idle can still be dialed between 650 and 950 rpm, and full throttle covers 5000 to 6000 rpm, figures we'd encourage you to verify for yourself on a test run given the used condition of this particular motor. A stainless liner inside the water pump housing was built in from new, and that hardware does not degrade with normal use, so a used unit like this one should run the same way it did from day one.
