Details & Inspection Notes
Short-shaft sibling to the MFS30DWETL, the MFS30DWETS carries the same white cowling, power trim and tilt, and electric-with-manual-backup starting, but on a shorter shaft and a slightly lighter build overall.
Sizing the shaft correctly
Fifteen inches is meant for a lower transom than the long-shaft version carries; mounting on the wrong transom height is one of the most common fitment mistakes buyers make with these engines. A fifteen-inch shaft also suits smaller boats where a longer unit would sit too deep when the boat is lightly loaded.
Steering options
Either a tiller handle or a remote mechanical head can be wired in, so decide which suits your boat before ordering any additional rigging.
Power draw to plan for
Verify your boat's battery and wiring can run the starter and the trim and tilt pump together before you rely on either during a day on the water.
What's included
White cowling panels pair with power trim and tilt, a built-in way to keep the battery charged, a handful of spares and simple tools, and a tether-style kill switch, plus the owner's manual.
Expect full throttle somewhere between 5250 and 6250 rpm, with EFI feeding the engine, and Tohatsu's 5-year warranty terms apply here too.
Common question
What separates this from the long-shaft MFS30DWETL? Shaft length and a few pounds of weight; the feature set is otherwise the same.
