Details & Inspection Notes

The MFS30DETL brings power trim and tilt and a choice of tiller or remote mechanical steering to Tohatsu's 30hp four-stroke, on a 20-inch shaft at 157 lbs, roughly midway between the lightest manual tiller models and the heavier white-cowled remote variants in the range.

Choosing tiller or remote

Decide on tiller or remote steering before ordering rigging parts, since that choice affects which control hardware you will still need to source; the control box and cables for a remote setup are sold separately from the powerhead either way.

Electrical load

Power trim and tilt and electric start both rely on the boat's battery and charging system, so a battery in good condition matters more here than on a basic tiller-only engine.

What comes with it

Power trim and tilt ships alongside the ability to charge a battery, a modest set of service tools and spares, a lanyard-style kill switch, and the owner's manual.

Expect a full throttle band of 5250 to 6250 rpm on EFI, with Tohatsu's 5-year warranty standard.

Common questions

Can this be steered by tiller and later converted to remote? It accepts either style, but confirm with your rigger what changing from one to the other involves.

Why does it weigh more than a tiller-only 30hp model? The trim and tilt hardware and remote-ready wiring add weight compared to Tohatsu's lightest manual tiller engines.
