Details & Inspection Notes

Tohatsu's MFS30CETL steps up to 30hp from the same 526cc three-cylinder block used lower in Tohatsu's lineup, running a higher-rev tune with a full throttle range of 5250 to 6250 rpm. It carries power trim and tilt, electric start with a manual backup, and can be set up with a tiller handle or a wired-in remote control, on a 20-inch shaft at 182 lbs.

Electrical load to plan for

Power trim and tilt and electric starting both draw on the boat's battery, so check your electrical system can support both before relying on them regularly, especially if you also run electronics off the same circuit.

Shaft length and transom height

The 20-inch shaft needs to match your transom height; this is not adjustable after rigging, so measure before you order rather than after the engine arrives.

Standard equipment

Power trim and tilt is paired with charging capability for the battery, a compact kit of tools and spares, a tether-style kill switch, and the printed owner's manual.

Induction is EFI, and Tohatsu backs the engine with a 5-year warranty.

Common questions

Why does this run a higher rpm range than Tohatsu's smaller four-strokes? It is tuned for more power from a similar-size block, which shows up as a higher full throttle range.

Does it have a manual backup starter? Yes, electric start is backed by a manual pull-start.
