The MFS25DS is Tohatsu's lightest 25hp configuration at 128 lbs, dropping the electric starter for a pull-cord-only setup on a 15-inch tiller-only shaft. Fewer electrical components mean less to maintain and less weight on the transom, at the cost of needing to pull-start every time you head out. A simpler engine like this also has fewer parts to inspect before each boating season.

Buyers who want a simple, lighter 25hp outboard without any battery or charging wiring to manage, on a boat steered by hand at the engine, are the target for this model rather than anyone wanting push-button starting from a console.

Before you order

The propeller is not included and must be ordered separately. Because there is no electric starter, there is also no built-in charging circuit for house batteries on this configuration, unlike Tohatsu's electric-start 25hp models. Running a stabilized fuel mix through any small four-stroke before storing it over winter is good general practice.

What's in the box

This engine comes with its fuel tank and line, the tiller grip, a tether-style kill switch, the owner's manual, and a basic set of service tools.

At full throttle this engine spins between 5000 and 6000 rpm on EFI, with Tohatsu's 5-year warranty included.
