The MFS25DEFL is a tiller-only 25hp Tohatsu, built for boats steered by hand at the engine rather than from a remote console. It runs the same 526cc three-cylinder four-stroke as Tohatsu's other 25hp models, runs on electric start with a manual pull-cord backup, tipping the scale at 138 lbs on its 20-inch shaft, noticeably lighter than the remote-capable versions that add trim and tilt hardware.

Why tiller-only suits some boats better

Steering by hand at the engine keeps the rigging simple: there is no console cable run or remote box to install, maintain or eventually replace, which matters on smaller boats where simplicity and lower weight at the transom outweigh remote convenience.

One thing to order separately

The propeller is not included with this model and needs to be ordered separately, by phone or in person, before the engine can be put in the water.

What ships with the powerhead

The tiller handle itself, its matched fuel tank and line, a kit of basic tools and spare parts, a kill-switch lanyard, and the owner's manual all come with the engine. There is no power trim and tilt on this configuration, which keeps weight and complexity down.

EFI feeds this engine through a 5000-to-6000-rpm full throttle band, and it carries Tohatsu's 5-year warranty.
