Details & Inspection Notes
A 15-inch shaft, a white finish, and console control come together in the Tohatsu MFS20EWEPTS, a 20 hp four-stroke with an electric starter, a pull-cord fallback, and power tilt, weighing 114 lbs.
A shorter shaft for a lower transom
Among the console-steered 20 hp motors Tohatsu builds, this is the short-shaft entry, meant for a transom that sits lower than what the longer-shaft versions are made for. Since steering runs to a helm control head rather than a handle, confirm the console wiring and tilt-switch connection are ready, or planned for, before the motor ships; as with other console-steered units, the sidemount box, tank, and line are not included here.
Standard equipment
Inside the crate sit the propeller, the steering arm, cowling panels finished in white, the charging circuit, and the power-tilt hardware, with a basic tool kit and the printed manual rounding things out. A two-cylinder, 333cc EFI engine drives it, reaching up toward 6,100 rpm once the throttle is wide open, and Tohatsu's coverage runs 5 years from the date of sale.
Q: Will the pull cord start it with a dead battery? Yes, that backup bypasses the electric starter entirely.
Q: Is the control box included? No, that, the tank, and the line are sourced on their own for this console-steered build.
Q: What's the cylinder count on this engine? Two cylinders, in the same 333cc EFI block used across the 20 hp range.
