The Tohatsu MFS20EEPTUL is a 20 hp four-stroke set up for console control rather than a tiller handle: console steering, an electric starter backed by a pull cord if the battery runs down, and power tilt, carried on a 25-inch shaft at 118 lbs.

Fitting it to a deeper transom

Twenty-five inches is a long shaft, built for boats whose transom sits deeper than average; measure straight down from the transom's top edge to the hull bottom before ordering, since shaft length matters more to how the boat runs than the horsepower number does. Being a console-steered model, it does not arrive with a sidemount control box, a tank, or a line in the crate; those get sourced separately to match whatever control run is already on the boat.

What's in the crate

Expect the propeller, the steering arm, the charging system, and the power-tilt hardware, along with a parts and tool kit, a cord for the kill switch, and a printed manual. Power tilt lifts the engine clear of the water at the dock or in shallow water without bolting on a separate hydraulic ram. The block underneath is a two-cylinder, 333cc EFI design that spins up toward 6,100 rpm at the top of the throttle, starting from around 5,400.
