Details & Inspection Notes

Drop the shaft to 15 inches on the same remote-steer, 20 hp EFI platform and you get the Tohatsu MFS20EEPS, electric start included, at a weight of 102 lbs. Remote mechanical steering again puts the controls at a helm station rather than the motor itself.

What's not included on a remote model

No sidemount remote comes in the crate, and neither does a fuel tank or its line, since those need to be sized to whatever control run and fuel setup your own boat already has; order them once your rigging is confirmed. The 15-inch shaft targets a shorter transom specifically, not a lighter-weight preference.

Engine and equipment

The propeller, the steering arm, and the charging system share the box; a basic tool kit, a cutoff cord, and the manual book ship as their own separate bundle. A two-cylinder, 333cc EFI engine spins up toward 6,100 rpm at the top, 5,400 at the bottom of that range.

Q: Is the 15-inch shaft just a lighter option? No, it's sized for shorter transoms; pick it based on transom height, not weight preference.

Tohatsu backs the MFS20EEPS with a 5-year warranty. As with any remote-steer install, test the full range of the steering cable before the final hookup, so binding or excess play gets caught on the bench rather than on the water.

Startup & Installation Checklist

  • Inspect all external gaskets, seals, spark plugs and timing components prior to installation.
  • Refill engine oil, transmission gear oil and coolant to manufacturer-specified capacities before initial cranking.
  • Prime the lubrication system and verify ECU wiring pinouts, sensors, and ground connections.
  • Our 2-year warranty covers internal lubricated components, cylinder heads and engine block from delivery, in addition to your statutory rights.
