Details & Inspection Notes

The BFT200DXCRA is Tohatsu's counter-rotating take on the same 200 hp platform, built around a 25-inch shaft, a remote-steer helm setup, and electric start, with a dry weight of 595 lbs. Boats running twin outboards use a pairing like this to cancel out the steering pull that two matching motors would otherwise fight against.

Why counter rotation matters

Only run this lower unit alongside a standard-rotation motor mounted on the other side of the transom; two counter-rotating units side by side, or any pairing that isn't planned around rotation direction, undoes the point of ordering this version in the first place. Have your 25-inch shaft requirement confirmed against your transom height before the order ships.

Power and equipment

Expect 3471cc from six cylinders under electronic fuel injection, with the throttle able to climb as high as 6,000 rpm and no lower than 5,000 at idle-up speed. The counter-rotating lower unit is the headline item, and it travels with power trim and tilt hardware, a hose for the fuel line, the charging system, and the usual lanyard and manual tucked in beside them.

Q: Can this run as a single engine on a boat with only one motor? It can, but the counter-rotating lower unit is built for twin installs; confirm with us if you're only running one.

Tohatsu backs the BFT200DXCRA with a 5-year warranty.
