Details & Inspection Notes
Tohatsu builds the MFS140AETUL around a 25-inch shaft, pairing the same 140 HP four-cylinder engine used across the line with hardware sized for a taller transom than the shortest option in the family.
Engine specification
This four-cylinder, 1995cc EFI engine reaches full throttle somewhere between 5150 and 5850 RPM, the same core powerplant Tohatsu uses across its 140 HP range. The five-year coverage term that applies to this model matches the rest of that family as well.
Choosing a shaft length
Measure the boat's transom before ordering so shaft length matches the hull rather than guessing from horsepower alone; a 25-inch shaft is meant for a noticeably taller transom than the shortest option in this engine family. Remote rigging kits and tiller handles are not included and should be picked based on how the boat will be steered, since the motor ships with its engine and trim and tilt hardware only.
Why shaft length is its own decision
Horsepower tells you how much power the motor makes, not how deep the propeller needs to sit; two boats rated for the same 140 HP can call for different shaft lengths depending on hull design and transom height, so treat the two specifications separately when ordering.
Common questions
Is the control setup included? No, both remote rigging and a tiller handle are sold separately. What is the full throttle RPM range? 5150 to 5850 RPM.
