Details & Inspection Notes
This is the top end of the Syncrowave TIG line at 400 amps, sold here as a bare power source rather than a turnkey station — the choice for a shop with its own cables, torches, or cooling cart already on hand.
What makes the 400 different from smaller Syncrowaves
At this amperage, the machine is rated into thicker material: up to 1/2-inch steel or 3/8-inch aluminum, running off single- or three-phase 208/240/480V power with no manual voltage-linking step. Pulsed TIG and DIG control adjust to a wider span of electrodes and base metals at this output level than a lower-amperage inverter would allow.
What ships, and what does not
Two Dinse connectors, an 8-foot cord with no plug attached, and an owner's manual come with the power source itself; a torch, work leads, and any cooling cart are left for the buyer to supply or order as separate packages. An Arc Timer and Cycle Counter log welding time on the display, handy for pricing jobs after the fact.
Common questions
Does squarewave AC output still apply at this amperage? Yes, the same adjustable-balance AC cleaning action for aluminum carries through the whole Syncrowave line.
Miller backs this unit with a 3-year warranty. One note on this listing: a spec row showing a lower amperage and duty-cycle figure appears to be carried over from a smaller Syncrowave model rather than describing this 400-amp unit, so rely on the name and the amperage range above instead.

Welding Equipment Setup & Pre-Operation Checklist
- Verify workshop mains voltage, circuit breaker rating, and phase match the welding machine specifications.
- Inspect ground clamp cable, torch lead, and work cables for tight, clean, low-resistance connections.
- Secure shielding gas cylinders upright with safety chains; inspect regulator and hose connections for gas leaks.
- Confirm correct wire diameter, drive roll groove profile, and contact tip size match the spool installed.
