Details & Inspection Notes
Unlike the cart-mounted package, this Maxstar 400 ships as the power source alone with its cords and connectors, suited to a shop that already has its own cart or mounting setup. This power source runs DC on both TIG and stick, capable of welding material up to 5/8 in thick.
Specs to plan around
This unit is rated for a 60% duty cycle at 300A across both stick and TIG, and it draws input anywhere between 208 and 575 volts without manual relinking. At 135 lbs it is a stationary or semi-stationary machine rather than one carried daily between trucks.
What's in the box
It comes with a quick reference guide in English and Spanish, a primary cord with no plug attached, a pair of 50 mm Dinse-style connectors, and a setup DVD. A TIG torch adapter is not included and needs to be ordered separately. A 120-volt auxiliary receptacle runs a cooling system or small tools, and nine program memories hold saved settings for repeat jobs.
Why go bare-bones
Buying the power source on its own suits a shop that already owns a cart, cooler, or torch from another machine and just needs the inverter itself, rather than duplicating accessories it already has.
Does this include a TIG torch? No torch or torch adapter; those are separate purchases.
Is a cart included? No, this is the power source only.
