Details & Inspection Notes
The Miller ArcReach Suitcase 12 is a wire feeder, not a power source, built so the operator can change output voltage from a dial at the feeder instead of walking back to the machine. It works with any ArcReach-equipped power source for the full benefit, though it still runs with non-ArcReach equipment at reduced functionality.
Feeding wire without surprises
Electronic wire feed speed runs 50 to 780 inches per minute with a feedback tachometer holding it steady, and digital meters with SunVision technology stay readable in direct sun. The feeder can take a wire change with the unit standing upright, a gun-locking tab keeps the gun from pulling loose mid-job, and the recessed gas inlet on the back stays clear of cables.
Capacity and included gun
- Handles solid wire on the thin end and steps up to .030-5/64″ flux-cored wire
- Spool capacity: up to a 12″ or 45 lb spool
- Duty cycle: 60% at 425A
- Dimensions: 15.5″H by 9″W by 21″D, 35 lbs
It ships with the 15-foot Bernard flux-cored gun already matched to the feeder, three .045″ and two .052″ Centerfire contact tips, plus drive rolls sized to .068 and .072-5/64″ wire with a V-knurled grip, guides already installed, ready for flux-cored wire out of the box. It runs on 14-48 VDC from the power source, single phase, and is built for Career Welder-level work; a manufacturer's warranty is included. A dual-schedule switch is available separately if a job needs two stored settings.
Does it need an ArcReach power source to work? It will run with standard equipment, but the voltage-at-the-feeder control only works paired with an ArcReach power source. Can the wire be changed without lowering the feeder? Yes, the drive system is designed to allow a wire change with the feeder upright.

Welding Equipment Setup & Pre-Operation Checklist
- Verify workshop mains voltage, circuit breaker rating, and phase match the welding machine specifications.
- Inspect ground clamp cable, torch lead, and work cables for tight, clean, low-resistance connections.
- Secure shielding gas cylinders upright with safety chains; inspect regulator and hose connections for gas leaks.
- Confirm correct wire diameter, drive roll groove profile, and contact tip size match the spool installed.
