Details & Inspection Notes
The Miller Maxstar 210 automatically senses and adapts to whatever input power is on site, from 120 up through 480 volts, single- or three-phase, while holding its DC Stick welding performance steady regardless of the outlet. At 36 lbs and 24″L by 13″W by 17″H, it is sized for a job box rather than a bench.
Dialing in a procedure
Dual TIG and dual Stick schedules let an operator store two setups and switch between them without re-entering numbers, and Pro-Set removes the guesswork of matching amperage to electrode or material thickness. A memory card port updates the software and can add product features later, and a programmable standby/sleep timer powers the machine down after it sits idle for a set period, so it is not drawing power overnight by accident.
Output and capacity
- DC TIG and DC Stick, covering 1-210 amps overall
- TIG duty cycle holds 60% at 210A; Stick duty cycle holds 60% at a lower 160A
- Max material thickness: 1/4″ steel
It comes complete with an 8 ft power cord with no plug and two 50-mm Dinse connectors, so the shop fits its own plug to match the panel. Miller rates it for Career Welder-level work across industrial and light-industrial shops, backed by a manufacturer's warranty.
Will it need a specific input voltage? No, it runs on 120 to 480 volts, single or three phase, and adapts automatically. Can two different Stick settings be stored at once? Yes, the dual Stick schedule holds two separate setups.

Welding Equipment Setup & Pre-Operation Checklist
- Verify workshop mains voltage, circuit breaker rating, and phase match the welding machine specifications.
- Inspect ground clamp cable, torch lead, and work cables for tight, clean, low-resistance connections.
- Secure shielding gas cylinders upright with safety chains; inspect regulator and hose connections for gas leaks.
- Confirm correct wire diameter, drive roll groove profile, and contact tip size match the spool installed.
