Details & Inspection Notes
Lincoln's Square Wave TIG 200 is built to go from a 120V home outlet to a 230V shop circuit without rewiring anything, and at 46 lbs it travels easily between the two. It TIG welds aluminum on AC and steel, stainless, or chrome-moly on DC, with a simple interface that lets an operator set it and weld rather than hunt through menus, plus Stick capability on the same machine.
Dialing in the arc
High-frequency starting makes it a workable aluminum TIG welder straight out of the box, and built-in cleaning-action settings let an operator widen or tighten the arc cone for the joint in front of them. AC frequency runs from 60 to 150 Hz, AC balance from 60 to 90 percent electrode negative, and pulse from 0.1 to 20 pulses per second, so the controls cover a wide range without added accessories.
Output by voltage
- On a 120V circuit: TIG runs 10-125A, Stick runs 10-110A
- Switch to 230V and TIG extends to 10-200A, Stick to 10-170A
- At 230V, rated output is 200A at a 25% duty cycle, or 130A at 60%
At those settings, 3/16″ aluminum or 3/16″ steel is within its TIG welding range. The whole package measures 14″ by 10.75″ by 19.25″ and ships with a flexible-head TIG torch, the PTA-17 Series, air-cooled and rated to 150 amps, plus a foot Amptrol, a regulator/flowmeter with gas hose, a stick electrode holder, a ground clamp, and both the 120V and 230V input cords. Lincoln rates it for skill levels from beginner to Career Welder and backs it with a manufacturer's warranty.
Can beginners use this machine? Yes, Lincoln rates it across Beginner, Weekend Warrior, and Career Welder skill levels. Is a TIG torch included? Yes, the PTA-17 150-amp air-cooled torch ships with the package, along with the foot Amptrol and gas regulator.

Welding Equipment Setup & Pre-Operation Checklist
- Verify workshop mains voltage, circuit breaker rating, and phase match the welding machine specifications.
- Inspect ground clamp cable, torch lead, and work cables for tight, clean, low-resistance connections.
- Secure shielding gas cylinders upright with safety chains; inspect regulator and hose connections for gas leaks.
- Confirm correct wire diameter, drive roll groove profile, and contact tip size match the spool installed.
