Details & Inspection Notes
Lincoln wrapped the Ranger 250 GXT in stainless steel panels, which is the detail that sets this Ranger apart from a standard-case model: the roof and sides are fully enclosed stainless, with three service doors for routine maintenance. Underneath, it is a 250-amp AC/DC engine-driven welder on single-phase power, rated for a 100% duty cycle at 250 amps on AC/DC and again at 250 amps DC.
Quiet enough for close-in jobs
Lincoln measured the enclosed case at 76.4 dBA at 23 feet, with a 100.7 dB sound power rating at rated output, so it can run near occupied buildings without drawing complaints. A 23 HP Kohler gasoline engine, two-cylinder, four-cycle, air-cooled, drives both the welding output and an 11,000-watt peak single-phase AC generator, 10,000 watts continuous, enough for lights, a grinder, or an inverter welder between weld passes. An electric fuel pump avoids vapor lock, the fuel gauge sits right on the control panel, and the 12-gallon tank stretches the runtime between fill-ups.
Set up for more than Stick
- Optional gear adds MIG and Flux-Cored on top of the standard Stick and TIG processes
- AC TIG on aluminum and other alloys with an optional TIG module and a foot or hand Amptrol
- Remote-ready 6-pin connector with a local/remote switch
Lincoln holds both the weld output and the generator rating to 104°F, so the numbers still apply on a hot jobsite afternoon, not just a cool morning test. At 602 lbs it is built to tow or mount, not to carry by hand. It is rated for Industrial use at the Career Welder skill level. Lincoln builds each Ranger 250 GXT to order, so figure one to two weeks before it ships, and a manufacturer's warranty comes with it.
Can it TIG aluminum out of the box? AC TIG on aluminum needs the optional TIG module and an Amptrol; it is not included standard. Why the stainless case? It fully encloses and protects the engine while the three doors still give full maintenance access.

Welding Equipment Setup & Pre-Operation Checklist
- Verify workshop mains voltage, circuit breaker rating, and phase match the welding machine specifications.
- Inspect ground clamp cable, torch lead, and work cables for tight, clean, low-resistance connections.
- Secure shielding gas cylinders upright with safety chains; inspect regulator and hose connections for gas leaks.
- Confirm correct wire diameter, drive roll groove profile, and contact tip size match the spool installed.
